The Queen City Indoor Tennis Club or The Queen’s Club is located at 568 Dupont Street (near Dupont and Christie) in a building that used to house the Toronto Skating Club which is now the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club.
The primary visionary behind the club was Sydney Hermant and he and his associates purchased the property and transformed it into a one court, indoor tennis club. A second court was built in 1967. The Queen’s Club is one of the premier indoor tennis clubs in Canada and occupies a prominent place in history as being Toronto’s first indoor tennis club.
While there have been improvements and upgrades over the years, the traditions of the club continue and the membership continues to espouse the strong values of honesty, respect and fair play that were the underpinning of the club’s origins. The special quality of the Queen’s Club will always attract the kind of people who love the game for its own sake.
There is an approximately three year waiting list to join the club and applicants must be sponsored by current members.
Facilities and Services
The club features two superb separate har-thru courts each of which is totally enclosed. Our mezzanine overlooking both courts, attached to our snack bar, offers the best viewing for our special events and our traditional Finals Day.
Game arranging and block bookings are unique features valued by members. The club provides a wide array of other tennis services along with a small but growing fitness area. It operates from September 1st to June 30th and is closed for July and August.
